Video assignment.

Due Date is Monday,  10/23/17

Here it is online in case you are not in class

 video How music works.

We are going to the theatre.

Assignment

Video Reviews

During the course of this class, you will have the opportunity to watch several educational videos.  After viewing the videos, you shall write a review of the video.  These are very useful for teachers and students.  It demonstrates that you are attentive during the video and taking notes (in other words, learning), and it helps teachers to choose a variety of videos that are more suited the needs of the class.
The video review should be no more than one page in length, and have two paragraphs.  The first paragraph is a summary paragraph.  It should be at least 7 sentences in length, containing the following:

1.    an introduction sentence stating the topic of the video
2.    identify 3 things you learned watching the video
3.     then explain what you learned about each thing

(I learned that new mountain chains form at convergent boundaries.  The wrinkling of land as it collides with another plate creates these mountains.)
The second paragraph is an evaluation of the video, and should be at least 5 sentences in length.  This is your chance to explain how the video helped you, or what you thought of the video.  You should be as descriptive as possible in this portion, because it will help to ensure future videos are more effective.  In the evaluation paragraph you should state the following:

·      identify at least one thing you liked about the video
·      identify at least one thing you disliked about the video
·      how did the video help explain concepts or ideas from the class
·      was it difficult to understand, or was it too slow paced
·      could you see and hear the video well enough

You will have a review due for each section of the video.  Do not turn it in until we have finished all 4.  All 4 should be on one document.    I will explain in class.

Test. Practice notation.

You have a test today.  Do the best you can and we can talk about the outcome on Thursday.  Here is a site you can use after the test to help you remember notation.

Link to notation game.

Study this to help you learn the note names.

Clefs

Treble Staff
This is the treble staff. The treble clef (the large fancy symbol to the far left) shows the musician that the staff is treble. Since it curls around the G line, it is also called a G clef. The treble staff begins with the first line as E. Each successive space and line is the next letter in the musical alphabet. The staff ends with the last line as an F. Many mnemonic devices exist to help a person remember which line and space is which. One of the most common phrases to remember the names of the lines is: Every Good Boy Does Fine. (Also popular is Elvis' Guitar Broke Down Friday). To remember the spaces, just remember that they spell FACE starting from the bottom.
Bass Staff
This is the bass (pronounced 'base' ) staff. The bass clef, also known as the F clef because it locates the line known as F, is on the far left. The bass clef uses the same musical alphabet as treble, but the letters start in different places. Instead of an E, the bottom line is a G, and the letters proceed logically from there. Again, simple mnemonics can be used to remember the names of the notes. The lines on the bass cleft, from bottom to top are: G, B, D, F, A (GoodBoys Don't Fight Anyone), and the spaces are A,C,E,G (All Cows Eat Grass).

Gantt Chart... Project Management.

Gantt

Gantt chart is a type of bar chart, developed by Henry Gantt, that illustrates a project schedule. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Terminal elements and summary elements comprise the work breakdown structure of the project. Some Gantt charts also show the dependency (i.e., precedence network) relationships between activities. Gantt charts can be used to show current schedule status using percent-complete shadings and a vertical "TODAY" line as shown here.
Although now regarded as a common charting technique, Gantt charts were considered revolutionary when first introduced[citation needed]. In recognition of Henry Gantt's contributions, the Henry Laurence Gantt Medal is awarded for distinguished achievement in management and in community service. This chart is also used in Information Technology to represent data that has been collected.

Please go to this site.  Log in with your google account.  Go through it and check out the program.  I think this project Gantt site will be useful.

You assignment is to create a Gantt Chart.   We need to talk about projects...
