Create an AABA, with a C section that happens once with loops.  Put the C part after the last A and then repeat AABA.     ex.  AABACAABA    You can use Aviary, Garageband, Mixcraft or any program you like.  The idea here is to make sure you have an AABA and that you also have a break in it which will be the C section.

Try it!

This is really cool. The second one is amazing so please read all the way though..

Count every 'F
' in the following text:

6 -- no joke.
Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.
The brain cannot process 'OF.'

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!
Anyone who counts all 6 'F's' on the first go is a genius.
Three is normal, four is quite rare.

Checking your chord structure and rhythm.

Please be prepared to play your 8 measures of A section and 8 measures of B section.

If it is done you get a total of 20 points.  If it is close, you need to make it right and when it is done I will give you your score minus 1 point a day.

The correct answer is...

A lesson for all of my classes.

Please do your own research and investigation into things you hear or facts you are given.  Information can easily be skewed to reflect the way someone wants the world to be or the way they wished it would be.    Finding the truth is not easy and with the internet, anyone can say anything and have it instantly published as "the truth."  Use multiple sources that do not have an agenda they are promoting.  Where are you getting your information?  Is the site, book or person unbiased?  What is the reputation of the source?  Does the source have an agenda?  Always, Consider your source. And yes, that includes me!  I have been wrong in the past and I will be wrong in the future.  If I teach you something that you believe to be incorrect, then prove me wrong.  Shoot, I'll give you a couple of bonus points for doing the research.

Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Hook.

And now the format.

Type of Song Form:

AABA, this type of song has an opening section (A), a bridge (B) before transitioning to the final A section. This song form is used in a variety of music genres including pop, gospel and jazz.

The classic AABA song form can be illustrated as such:
A = 8 bars
A = 8 bars
B = 8 bars
A = 8 barsYou'll notice that it has 32 bars all in all. The first and second A sections are composed of verses which are similar in melody but different in lyrical content. This is followed by the bridge (B) which is musically and lyrically different than the A sections. The bridge gives the song contrast before transitioning to the final A section.

Exceptions to the Rule:

There are many AABA songs that doesn't follow the 8-8-8-8 format, for example the song "Send in the Clowns" has a 6-6-9-8 format. Sometimes the songwriter feels the need to lengthen the AABA song form by adding another bridge and a last A section. This format can be illustrated as A-A-B-A-B-A. The second bridge may either be lyrically the same or different than the first bridge, at times it can also be an instrumental part. The last A section may also be a repeat of an earlier verse or an entirely new verse that gives the song a sense of completion.

Song Sample:

AABA Song Form - "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"First A: Somewhere over the rainbow way up high
Second A: Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue
B Section: Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Final A: Someday over the rainbow bluebirds fly...

I think everyone has one program that works.   The hard part is that we have three programs and I need to know all three.  I will need your help to figure out the programs.  I will help you if you get stuck but going to the help menu or looking up a tutorial online is your first step.  In a prefect world we would have one platform so that we could all be doing the exact same project with the same tools.  Maybe next time with no recession.  Get your rock drum track down then copy and paste it so that you have 36 or 48 bars.  Do you need help?   Okay, ask.

The Art of Mixing
Mixing is an artform. Having a great and accurate set of reference monitors is the first step in producing better mixes.

However, one of the most cost effective ways of improving your mixing skills is to take your favorite commerically released albums and listening to the songs on your home studio setup.

Listen to these songs and learn about the nuances of your system and then compare the commercially released songs to your own.

Over time you will develop the skills necessary to producing great sounding songs!
