I thought I would share this story with you. It was sent to me.

"Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever.Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard."

continue your work but remember...

Your grading period is coming up. If you have done well on the tests but don't contribute to a project your grade will be greatly effected. Heavy weight will be placed on you contribution. If you find yourself not working on your recordings your grade will suffer towards the end of the year. You could go from a A to a C for instance. What does this mean. It means that doing other things other than your project or class work will hurt your grade. Any questions?

Keep it up to those of you working on the project. I am seeing progress.

Study for your vocab 2 test tomorrow. There is no reason you can't do well. I am giving you class time to study. I bought a usb keyboard. It works great with garage band. Plug and play. It also has a disk for PC. Let's hook that up today and see how it works.

Easy Assignment...

Find different Web sites where we can send our music to have them duplicated into CD's for sale and ordering. Send me an email with the link or links. Which one seems the best?

Test on Friday

We will have a test on vocabulary 2 on Friday. So today, study your list of vocab. 2. terms Make sure you read the link on project management. We will have a test on that as well in the near future so start to get familiar with it. Start with the big ideas in bold. Those are questions for sure. We have the A/D converters and keyboards on order. Hopefully, they will be here soon. We will have two loaned keyboards and converters here soon as well. I'm going to buy another keyboard and Mr. Becker and Mr Loescher from CCTE is loaning us some gear so we will have a total of 8 recording stations.

Test day. Here is the test on Sound Waves. Use the site from Tuesday or find your own and list 10 facts about the recording studios.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Study for the test tomorrow on sound waves. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY... The test will consist of multiple choice and fill in the correct words in the blanks.

I understand that games are fun as they should be. You want to play a game? Find some music theory related games on the internet. Create your own multiple choice tests on google docs about music tech. I reserve the right to exit you out of a game or web site not related to this class or game not related to music. The next step would be point reductions for offenders. I am not a cop so don't put me in the position of playing one. I don't look good in a uniform.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Sound waves test Friday

Study the sound waves student questions. Test will be on Friday! You should have submitted your arrangements by now. If not, get it done and turned in. I am keeping my eye on those students who are playing video games. If you have finished your work, then read an article or link I have listed or find some on your own that relate to the music business.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Let's finish up your tracks on aviary or garageband and get them in. The idea is to submit something so that we have a process in place. And now, a little reading assignment about the recording studio. Just to give you a better idea of all the aspects of the studio and how it's used.

Monday, September 28, 2009

Monday Monday

Alright... Did you submit your song/arrangement. Today we are going to take a listen to them and get through as many as possible. You should start to study the student formed questions on sound waves.

Friday, September 25, 2009

Song Submission

Keep it up!

Great job yesterday. A lot of creativity going on in room 402. Keep working on your project or projects. Don't forget to save them. I would recommend saving it early to make sure you can. I think you need to download the mp3 version. We will post them soon. Remember that today is the day that your 10 questions and answers about sound waves are due. As long as I get them by midnight, you are good. Send them to me at

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

And Now...

Okay. We have the Aviary program working on most of the PC's and I will set up the rest today. You should be bringing headphones to hear what you create on the recording program. Watch the video under the help menue to get an overview of the program. Ask for help if or when you need it. You can now create mixes and arrangements of loops even if you are not a musician. Have Fun! Doug

Monday Update

We don't have Adobe installed on the PC's so check out the link to the left for Garageband Information. Read it and Watch the video to get a head start on how this software works.

Time for software

Good afternoon. Well, we are starting week three. Let's see if we can use some more software. Make sure you have all your work turned in first from the last two weeks. It will effect your grade in this class. Next, go check out this cool program. Aviary Try out the program and see what you can create. There are a lot of loops you just drag into place. This system of moving around recordings and or tracks is very common in the software we will be getting for the new Macs. Get familiar with it as it will help you later. Don't forget to save your recordings.

Friday, September 18, 2009

Much Better

You guys were so much better yesterday. Almost everybody had their head down and was either reading the article or they were working on something related to music. Check out the new link for articles and online magazines here! Also, take a look at the links for the student sign up sheet you filled out. Finally, check out the Monkey Machine link to the left. Today I would like you to start to come up with 10 study questions and answers about sound waves or acoustics. The directions are on the worksheet. After you're done, email it to me at I will choose the best questions and make a master study sheet and a test from your research. It will be due next Wednesday so you have some time to come up with good questions.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Let's try this again

Let's try this again. I was dissipointed that some of you were not mature enough to use the shared sheet on google docs. I have deleted the sheet you worked on so we have to do this a different way. I know that most of you were trying to fill it out and make progress but it only took one or a few of you in the class to waste my time and your friends time. For those of you mature enough and tried, I am sorry. For those of you who messed it up, I hope that you learn, and soon, that you are only hurting yourself and limiting your potential and future. It takes hard work and effort to make it in any business. Now, go to this form to fill out similar information. It will be recorded but cannot be altered. Skills Form. Then you can go and read about sound waves chapter 1. You need not only to read it but study it. Look for understand and key words in titles and bold print. We will be having a test on sound and acoustics soon.

How we start the class everyday.

Good Afternoon Class! Today is Wednesday the 15th of September. I appreciate your patients as I figure out the best way to organize this pilot music technology class. After a meeting yesterday, I have decided that a class blog is our best option to stay organized and on task. Everyday we will start the class by logging onto this blog and looking for our assignments. The links to the work we do will be right here so you don't have to search around the and look for the links. As an example, the following link will take you to a spread sheet I want you to fill out.Enter your name under the category that you feel applies to your talent and skill. After that, you should make sure you have done the following. 1. Signed up for a google docs account. 2. Turned in your student info sheet. 3. Turned in your 10 interesting facts about the music business. 4. Submitted your test on project management. If you have completed all of the above, you may use the rest of the day to check out this project form. You can also check out this link to RIAA. You will find a lot of information on the recording industry.

Things to remember. is our blogspot web site. You can enter our site 3 ways. Directly at, through or through Bottom line. You start each day by reading what you should be doing that day!

My email is
Your computer id and password.

Remember, everyday you will log in and go to to get the days assignment.
